Minimum distance from counter to island in kitchen?
Posted by: admin : Category: Kitchen Island DesignFor my design project, I’m designing a U-shaped kitchen. I plan to put a island in the middle. The island is 2×3 feet. The distance from counter to island is 3 feet(36 inches) on 3 sides. Do you think this would be too tight? I can’t make the space bigger without making the island smaller(can’t move the walls).
Ours is 42 inches which is a good distance because you can easily reach from the cook top on the island to the sink or counter but two people can still work at the same time.
36 inches is okay but a little cramped for some folks. You certainly don’t want to make the island smaller.
